Taxi with child seat

We can bring a child seat or a booster seat. Tell us your child's age and weight when you book and we'll confirm the right one.

Taxi with baby seat for newborns

For newborns and young babies, we recommend bringing your own rear-facing infant carrier - it's the seat your baby already travels in. Let us know when you book and your driver will give you time to fit it.

Do taxis have car seats? The UK rule

By law, if a taxi or minicab driver doesn't provide the right child car seat, children can travel without one, but only in a rear seat: under-3s without a seat belt, and children aged 3 and over using an adult seat belt. A properly fitted child seat is always the safer choice, which is why we offer them. [Link to: gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules]

What it costs

A small extra charge per seat, per journey - you'll see it when you book.

How to request one

Online or in the app. Tick "child seat" and add the age.

Questions

How much is a child seat?

A small extra charge per seat, per journey - you'll see it when you book.

Who fits the seat?

Your driver fits it before you get in, so it's ready when you are.

Do I legally need a car seat in a taxi?

Not by law. If the driver doesn't provide the right seat, children can travel in the back without one - under-3s without a seat belt, 3 and over with an adult seat belt (source: gov.uk). We still recommend a child seat, and we can provide one.
