Privacy policy

What we collect when you book a taxi with us, why we need it, who sees it and how long we keep it.

Who we are

Ridii Cars is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller. If you have a question about how we use your information, contact us on 01883 776000 or at bookings@ridii.co.uk.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to get you a car and keep a record of the journey.

  • Your name, where you gave one, and your mobile number.
  • Your pickup address, any stops and your destination.
  • The date and time of the journey, the vehicle type and the fare.
  • Your flight number, where you give one for an airport transfer.
  • Messages you send us on WhatsApp, and the number you sent them from.
  • Your approximate location, if you choose 'use my current location' when booking. Your browser asks you first and we use the result only to fill in the pickup field.

Card payments

Card payments made on this website are handled by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own payment page and are never seen by, or stored on, our systems. We receive only confirmation that the payment succeeded, along with the amount. Stripe processes the payment as a data controller in its own right, under its own privacy policy.

How we use it

We use your information to price your journey, dispatch a driver, send you booking confirmations and driver updates, take payment, answer your questions, and keep the records the law requires of a licensed operator.

  • Booking and completing your journey — because we need it to perform our contract with you.
  • Confirmation and driver messages by WhatsApp or text — because we need them to perform the booking you asked for.
  • Keeping journey and payment records — because we have legal obligations as a licensed operator and for tax.
  • Dealing with complaints, lost property and safety matters — because we have a legitimate interest in running the service properly and resolving problems.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary, and we never sell your information to anyone.

  • The driver assigned to your booking, who sees your name, number and addresses.
  • iCabbi, the dispatch system we use to assign and track bookings.
  • Stripe, where you pay by card.
  • WhatsApp, operated by Meta, where you message us or we message you on that channel.
  • Our accountants, insurers and professional advisers where they need it, and the police or a licensing authority where we are required to provide it.

Automated messages and our WhatsApp assistant

If you message us on WhatsApp, an automated assistant may answer you, take your booking details and send you confirmations. A member of staff can take over the conversation at any point, and you can ask to speak to a person at any time. No decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you is made by that assistant alone.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and payment records for 6 years, which is the period we need them for tax and for licensing. WhatsApp conversations are kept while they are useful for servicing your bookings and are then deleted. If you ask us to delete your information and we are not required to keep it, we will.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. Where you gave us consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact us and we will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may store a small amount of data needed to keep the booking form working while you use it.
